Blogging Soup

The Lifespan of a Blog

A few times have come up where I start a blog and then I lose interest or focus and forget about it.

Part of it comes from me thinking of a cool concept (ie: blogging soup) and then I get distracted or am working on a lot of different other projects and I don’t even know where to get back into it all.

This is likely going to be one of those examples of “how not to start a blog”.

Here’s my top 10 list of things to do or not to do:

1. Don’t start without a plan
2. Don’t expect to make money
3. Don’t get hung up on trying to learn everything
4. Do learn the basics, like SEO & social media marketing
5. Don’t be something you’re not.
6. Don’t write about crap that nobody cares about
7. Don’t write about everything that everybody else is writing about
8. Don’t become a blogging whore for the sake of a few links or traffic
9. Do Come up with some sites to be as “mentors” or “examples” – will help you out a long way if you’re new to this all.
10. Do Make Blogging Friends. It’s a lonely world when you’re out there all by yourself.
